Winding Down

I'm finally coming off what was probably the busiest time period of my life. The last 4 to 6 months have been very stressful to say the least.

I've been working on a project for a client that has required a lot of overtime. It's a long story as to why that happened, but the end result is I was working a lot of nights and weekends. Sure, one can say that I should be thankful that I have a job at all (and I am), but when I heard my sons saying, "why is Dad on the computer so much"...well, that got to me. Thankfully, the project is done today, and other than the long hours, it's been a fun project.

The long hours also didn't help in me finishing up the "Metaprogramming in .NET" book, but I can finally say that all of the material is done and it's in the production stage. I can't wait until I get the book in my hands, which should be late this year.

I also had to get the roof replaced on my house, and that was a bill I didn't really want. But that was finalized with the last payment a couple of weeks ago. By the way, if you need a new roof and you live in the Twin Cities are, or you need other house work done, contact Intelligent Designs. They were great to work with and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

All in all, I'm looking forward to taking 2 weeks off in October :). I'm starting a new gig up with Magenic next Monday as well. I'm also (hopefully) speaking at a couple of code camps in October and November, and I'm also speaking at VSLive in Orlando in December. On the musical side of my life, Mike and I have some songs written for the Sidetracked Project and we're looking to start recording them over the last months of 2012.

And I should really update my custom blog engine...if I can find the time!
