I "played" poker last night. That's putting it too strongly. I absolutely sucked. The first hand I get is K-10 offsuit, and for some bizarre reason, I folded. What turns up on the flop? K-something-K.
It all went downhill from there. I was the first busted out an hour later. I was so pissed at myself for playing so dumb right from the get-go. But...oh, well, I finally accepted my stupidity and ended up dealing for the last 5 players.
I'll say this: if I ever play poker again, I'm going to make sure I know what I'm doing. I mean, I know the basics, but to make such a dumb decision out of the gate is ridiculous. I'm not an expert on chess, but I feel like I can play OK. My parents taught me sheepshead and I played that a lot growing up and I knew that like the back of my hand. Poker is still foreign to me and I know don't have good strategies, but I feel I'd get addicted to the game if I started reading too much about it.
