Glad I'm Going To a Client...

Because being on the bench sucks. I don't know what it is, but I get excited about technology when I'm on a project. When I'm not, then my motivation factor isn't high at all. I don't know why. There was a thrill to writing books and diving into beta builds, but now my excitement is actually getting stuff to work and work well. Of course, that means knowing the underlying technologies, but I've come to realize that sitting around doing R&D all day would bore me to tears. I need to have application of the knowledge.

My hobbies and activities also go in cycles. For the last 5 years, I've been a golfing nut. But this year playing music has suddenly come to the forefront. Having a son has also shifted priorities as well. But I need to get focused on using my time wisely on activities. This year has so far been great, but I haven't been motivated to do a lot of things developer-related on the side. And, that's strangely OK with me now. Maybe in a while I'll get the burning desire to focus my energies late at night with the CLR, but right now I'm happy doing other things (along with that, of course).

I still like reading, though...
