Another Attempt With Speech Recognition
OK, I’m going to give this another try. This speech recognition seems very flaky. It never seems to pick up what I want to say, and I have to talk very slow. Otherwise, I get a bunch of mistakes and it really drives me nuts. Plus the correction feature that I’m using in word, doesn’t always let me correct to what I want to correct to. I guess I got to keep on trying this otherwise it will never learn my voice. But it seems counterproductive. I can actually type faster than this can recognize my voice. So what’s the point?
I guess I speak faster than I type, but making all these corrections is just a waste of time. Plus every time someone is trying to talk to me through IM, the dictating feature asks, “What was that?”. I can’t just quit, but I can’t blog this way either. And the biggest problem is that it doesn’t understand swear words. For example, if I say the word ship it doesn’t understand it. In fact, in the last sentence, you see the word ship. You can probably guess what the word really should be. But it doesn't seem to be a way to tell the recognition engine that when I say that word that it should put in the word I want.
Another problem is, I can’t figure out how to get dictation to work in my blog engine. That’s why have to do this entry in Word. I’m sure there’s a way to get this to work in my custom tool, but I haven’t figured out yet. But I have to keep pressing on. If I could get this to work, this would really be a productivity gain. I just wish it would understand what the hell I’m saying at times! If you have any tips please let me know. Thanks!
