Crunch Weeks

I like this post about the (now) infamous EA post. I know some people have what they call "passion" and "dedication" to their career which I think leads to the delusion that working insane hours for one's career is worth it. In my book, it isn't. It never has been, and it never will. Fortunately, I've never been in a situation where I had to work 80, 90, ever 100 hours a week for months on end. That's just ludicrist, and it's all in the name of, "if we don't do it, our competitor will, so we have to drive harder than anyone else." That leaves too many bodies on the field. No wonder there's a lot of computer programming jobs - I wonder if people fear the outrageous commitments some employers are looking for.
