Looking for Musicians in the Twin Cities

For the last 4 or 5 years, I've been honing my drumming skills. However, I've had very little experience playing with other musicians as the time keeper. I've played in a bunch of bands as either the guitarists, bassist, or keyboardist, but never as a drummer. So, I'd like to officially start the search to put together a band in the Twin Cities.

Now, I'm not looking to change careers. I love my job and I have no grand ideas of touring, selling CDs, etc. I just want to get together with other musicians who like the same music I do, have decent musical skills, and want to have some fun. If we can end up playing some gigs every so often, that's fine, but that's not my intention. Even if you're in other bands and just want to participate in a project to try different things, that's cool too. Or maybe you're like me - you love playing music, but you have a full-time career in something else and don't want "make it" in the music industry. My musical styles are pretty varied, but I'm more interested in playing music along the lines of Dream Theater, Rush, Spock's Beard, Styx (old stuff). While I'm not limiting myself to music from these bands, I'm really not interested in playing country/western or pop.

So, if this sounds interesting, I'd love to hear from you. I'm thinking that this band would need a guitarists, a bassist, a keyboardist, and a vocalist (and if someone can fill more than one of the roles, that's fine too). I have a fair amound of space in my house to practice, so that's not a problem. I'm hoping that in a couple of months that I can report on positive progress with this new idea. And I'm going to continually post "Musicians Wanted" entries on this blog until I find people!
