My Project Has Changed :(
I found out today that the project I've been working on for over a year is going to be shelved in place of a 3rd party package. I could list (and lament over) the reasons why I don't agree with this, but it's just not worth it. The decision has been made, and I have to adjust to it. It appears that part of our team may stay on to integrate the package with our back-end services, but, honestly, I have to determine if I really want to stay anymore. Yes, projects get cancelled all the time (and, technically, the project hasn't been "cancelled"...just altered), but I still feel like all the work I did is for nothing. Really, though, it isn't. I learned about the XP methodology and what I liked and didn't like about it. I learned more about WinForms than what I knew coming in to the project. I got some TabletPC programming experience. I worked with Terminal Services and Citrix. I got to do a lot of design and modeling along with a lot of coding. The team has been one of the best (if not the best) teams I've ever worked with. And Magenic got money (which leads to my paycheck) for my work. It's not for nothing, but it still bummed me out for a while.
On a brighter note, I've heard that PGR2 finally has downloadable content available. I really like RS2 (I'm dealing with the crashes), and PGR2 looks...slower compared to RS2. But I still like PGR2 as you have more player interaction. Time to have some fun crashing new cars in Paris!
