This is kind of depressing , but at the same time, it's a sign of change. In no way am I a fan of huge-store-with-everything-at-low-low-prices idea, but at the same time, things change, and we can't expect the old family stores tucked away in the small town of America to last forever. Societies evolve, and these pictures beautifully illustrate this.
I grew up in a small town (Oostburg, Wisconsin) and the last time I drove through the town when I was visiting family, the "Variety Store" that was next to the railroad tracks was gone. I remember going into that store when I was youg and buying baseball cards and other things, and it was sad to see that gone.
