I finished this book over the weekend.
Meh.
I’ve been a big fan of Palahniuk for a long time. This novel … well, for 2/3rds of the book, I was getting bored. Basically the book is about a woman who is an artist and starts to unravel a twisted story about her husband’s family and the history of the island that they live on. I like his style of writing (e.g. repeating phrases like “just for the record” for effect) but in this book it was a grind to get through. Granted, near the end of the book things started to fall into place and I felt like my time wasn’t wasted but it felt like it took too long to get there. Ironically, the book isn’t that long.
